Killala Bay Folk Club/ Don Stiffe

Killala Bay Folk Club are proud to welcome Don Stiffe to the Arch Bar Killala on Friday March 2nd. Don will be performing ‘Upstairs at the Arch’, with accompaniment from Frank Kilkelly. Don Stiffe Music

Heralding from Galway, Don has been on the Irish Folk scene for a number of years, and his singing prowess is up there with the likes of Sean Keane, Sean Tyrell, Dolores Keane & Dessy O’ Holloran. His album ‘Start of a Dream’ (with guest musicians, Frankie Gavin, Karl Hession, Sharon Shannon, Cathal Hayden & Arty McGlynn, to name but a few) received critical acclaim, with quotes such as, ‘the music quality of the album is in the premier league… the style, pace and final execution are flawless, and his choice of songs is inspired… a class act with a class album’ (Sean Laffey – Irish Music Magazine). Don guarantees a most impressive performance in front of a live audience, as those in Ireland, Europe & the USA can testify. This is a gig not to be missed – please support your Killala Bay Folk Club – spread the word, invite your friends and book your babysitter now!

Doors open at 8:30pm with Don performing at 9:00pm sharp. Folk Club to follow afterwards.

What a night it’s been in ‪#‎Enniscrone‬! Hundreds of people lining the beach in the cold, wet darkness, to watch a giant crane lift a giant plane, turn it and face it for home.

Hundreds of volunteers helping out with food, stewarding, street cleaning. The ever-enthusiastic Discover Enniscrone team. For those who couldn’t be there, Smashteck Phones.ie have played a blinder all day with their live stream, and as for The Anton Savage Show? They’ve been there from the start, and put in a mammoth shift today. It was they who took this fantastic snap of David on the beach, watching his dream come home.

One man with a dream that captured the imagination of a nation, and put our little corner of The Wild Atlantic Way on the world map. It wasn’t always ‪#‎PlaneSailing‬, but what a journey it’s been.

David McGowan, we salute you.
